Controlled gas flaring alert. ⚠️

Starting around 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 17 & 18), Atmos Energy crews and contractors will oversee a controlled natural gas flaring at four intersections in Greeley as a part of routine maintenance:

• 20th St. & 4th Ave.
• 22nd St. & 4th Ave.
• 20th St. & 14th Ave.
• 15th St. & 11th and 12th Ave.

People in the area will notice a large, controlled flame and moderate noise for about three to four hours. The Greeley Fire Department, Weld County Sheriff’s Department, Greeley Police Department, city officials, and 911 operators have been advised of the flaring.

An industry-standard practice, flaring safely burns natural gas that must be removed from a pipeline before it can be worked on. Atmos has produced this video about the flaring process.
